Reverse Survivor: Holding A Lead Is A Start, At Least

North Texas did some very good things offensively yesterday in a 59-30 loss to Louisiana-Lafayette. Giovanni Vizza had a fantastic day, completing 29 of 44 passes for 361 yards; Casey Fitzgerald reeled in fourteen passes for 231 yards and a touchdown; the offensive unit scored a season-high thirty points.

Unfortunately, the defense was not told that there was a game. Lafayette's Jason Chery ran three times for 85 yards and a touchdown, caught three more passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns, and returned a kickoff for a score. The five touchdowns tied a school record.

Oh, other big news: the Mean Green jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, its first lead of the season. They lost it soon after, but proved the indomitability of the human spirit by recapturing the advantage, 10-7, later in the quarter. This week, they win half a quarter - maybe next week, an entire quarter. We Can Do It!

Washington had a bye this week. Boooooriiiiiiiing.
